Our last business was in the beautiful city of Barcelona introducing Armenian artists from the Caucasus region, and we didn't wait long to achieve acceptance of them, which confirmed us as the most  voted gallery of Catalunya. In Barcelona we were located in Roger de LLuria Street, as Mariam Armenian Art Gallery. This name is now used by another gallerist that is not linked with us and has nothing to do with Taurus55.

Over the years we have worked with Spanish, Italian and French artists, since Barcelona we have specialised in Armenian artists.

We are pleased and proud to bring this beautiful art to Britain and as Lord Byron wrote about the Armenian language and Sir Winston Churchill said about Armenian brandy, to interest our customers with the best of our coloured world.

Our Art

The best way to understand fine arts is to feel it.
Master Gombrich said that all is art, and I agree.
The thing to consider is what the work of art is transmitting to the receiver. To find a message that the piece is channeling through, one that may be different for every person.

Pencil, Gouache, aquarelles, acrylics, oils, charcoal techniques; mixed on canvas, hardboard or paper, can transfer sensations in different manners, that can be joined and understood universally as art, the language of one’s soul.

From London to Harrogate, New York to Miami, art is a way of expressing the same emotions felt from everyone, everywhere. And localization notwithstanding, it can be felt as happiness, tenderness or despair, the same way that an artist from China, Belgium or Argentina can understand the language of EMO transmissions as i used to say.

Once an artist in Barcelona asked me why I moved away from all the commercial paintings that were doing so well, landscapes and marine themed, at that time. I answered "This is art, Sophisticated and at times peculiar.If Art doesn't give me an inner feeling of an interior shakiness, perhaps I am in presence of commercial art. With all my respect that is not my cup of tea."

Aivasovsky used to paint marine themes, but he didn't just paint a sailor, or a sea, he added fantastic touches to his paintings, which were of a high quality and sophistication that deferred them of the usual type of paintings while still managing to engage people. These are works of art worth perusing.
Abstract paintings like the ones of Kandinsky, which were bold and beautiful, or themes such as maternity, which can represent life, art, and the art of life, are all represented by a range or Armenian artists who have a wide repertoire of ideas plastered into their art.

We all know that the London offers one of the most powerful art markets .When you speak with artists they generally want to reach London, Paris, Frankfurt, California and New York markets. When art is subject to be only commercial it looses some of its essence. In Japan, as in many other countries, there is a particular understanding of art, where the predominant colours are oranges combined with blacks, present in abstract art, particularly.
In the latest years, Armenian, Georgian, Russian and Ukrainian art reached a higher demand. This is because ex soviet painters are entering more and more markets that were not experimented before.
I must say that painters and paintings of the Armenian republic specially, and the Russians are superb.
The Taurus 55 fine art experience came after living and introducing Armenian art in Catalunya.
We understand it was time to develop this ancient art, that includes Modern and surrealist paintings, many artistic colleagues of Salvador Dali and Miro have influenced in some artists work.
